This is a planning page for the Humanities Showcase Project, whose mission is to recruit humanities advocacy recordings and other statements from non-academics and non-humanists.  Project Team: Alan Liu (leader), Linda Adler-Kassner, Eileen Boris, Leslie Hammer, Jen Hammerschmidt, Pax Hehmeyer, Zach Horton, Lindsay Thomas, Bill Warner.

Mission: Create a showcase of humanities research (and teaching) with public impact.  See the draft content for UC humanities and social science showcase examples created by Alan Liu for the UC Commission on the Future working group on Research Strategies.  The showcase could take the form of a database of blurbs and images, which can then be used to create posters, brochures, online OMEKA exhibits, and other kinds of static or interactive displays.  The showcase would also be a resource for humanities advocates looking for high-impact examples to use in their speeches, etc.

Plan of Action: (last updated April 25, 2012)

    3. Group to collect examples in the format of an image plus blurb on the present PBWorks site (upgraded to $99/year Classroom plan) or Google Drive
  2. Vet examples
    1. Tap the rest of 4Humanities@RFG to vote on the collection of examples
  3. Create presentation forms for examples:
    1. OMEKA.net site (paid plan)
    2. Poster series
  4. Produce selected videos?
    1. Interviews with researchers or students involved in the examples
    2. Video site visits or demos of research projects
